A hole in the hearing aid or earmold of the hearing aid which allows air to freely pass into the ear. The vent will vary in diameter depending on the severity and configuration of hearing loss. A smaller vent may be needed to reduce feeback. A larger vent may be necessary to reduce the occlusion effect. The hearing healthcare professional will choose and modify the correct vent size for each patient’s hearing aid based on these factors.
