It’s not often that we review hearing technology unrelated to hearing loss, but the truth is we understand people are going to use headphones on a weekly, if not daily, basis.
Thanks to companies like Everyday Hearing that are putting hearing loss in the forefront, more people are using headphones responsibly as evidenced by a recent study from the JAMA Otolaryngology journal.
Enough of the explaining, without further ado, let’s take a look at the Hbuds Sport Wireless Headphones.
The Good: Some of the best noise-cancelling earbuds we’ve tested.
The Bad: Really don’t have much to say that’s bad. To be fair the bass could hit a little harder, especially since these are sport earbuds. And if I’m being really picky, I wish they sent us the electric blue pair, because they are super sweet.
The Sound Worthy: Noise cancellation. I’ve got a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7B QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling headphones, and these are almost as good using cVc 6.0 technology.
The Hbuds paired within 10 seconds. Simple as press and holding the play/pause button for 3 seconds and finding them in your Bluetooth settings. We paired them with an iPhone 6S (screenshot below).
Comfort and Fit
The ear hooks may not be needed, because the fit was so good, but I’m glad they included them just for the extra support.
The headphones come with 4 different size and 2 different style ear buds. We ended up liking the smallest silicone pair the best.
And not to bombard you with pictures, but we always like to compare the front and back profile. After testing tons of completely wireless earbuds, we can’t stand the earbuds sticking out like antennas. The Hbuds fit great.
I know everyone always wants to know about the sound quality, and I hate saying this because it sounds like a cop out, but most earbuds these days are pretty similar in terms of sound. As I mentioned above I wish the bass hit a little harder with the Hbuds, but overall they’re pretty solid.
What really takes them to the next level is the noise-cancelling. These may be the best earbuds we’ve tested in terms of noise-canceling. My wife tested these out and I was literally shouting at her from across the room and she didn’t hear me.
One word of warning, if you’re wearing them outside be very careful of your surroundings and consider only wearing one earbuds in.
