A hearing aid fitting is an in-office appointment with a hearing healthcare professional. At this appointment your new hearing aids will be “fit” to the prescription of your hearing loss using computerized programming software. You may be asked to answer several questions about how you are hearing with the hearing aids to ensure that the sound is comfortable.
During this appointment, the hearing healthcare professional will also determine whether the hearing aid physically fits your ear properly, so that it stays in the ear and there is no discomfort.
The second half of the appointment involves very detailed instructions about how to insert and remove your hearing aids, change volume and programs (if applicable), insert and remove the batteries, and proper cleaning and care of the hearing aids.
This appointment typically takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half. It is helpful to bring someone with you to this appointment, as a lot of information will be covered.
